Kubrick's 'Lolita' and the heart-shaped sunglasses

Dear Followers

Stanley Kubrick was one of my all-time favourite directors, and not just for the amazing films including the likes of 'A Clockwork Orange', 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and '2001: A Space Odyssey'. I watched 'Lolita' a while back, and even though it is not one of my favourite Kubricks, it did leave something lingering at the back of my mind... that is, the heart-shaped sunglasses Lolita wears the first time that Professor Humbert sees her in the garden. They're very quirky and fun, and I am personally a huge fan of 60s fashion!

The following link will take you to the cxlondon.com (inexpensive) version of the glasses:

In case heart-shaped sunglasses aren't really your cup of tea, you can still take inspiration from it! Hearts are timeless and very cute + they go with anything. For example, you could try the following link to see a Topshop heart-shaped necklace:

Tights with little hearts on them are everywhere at the moment, but I've found ones a little more full-on, with bigger hearts so they stand out a lot more. From Miss Selfridge:

Another way you could wear hearts is in the shape of a bag, such as this sweet Urban Outfitters version:

It's a little Christ-massy in the sense that it's sequined, but as it is black it won't look as if you're trying to prolong the holidays until April, but instead very stylish. I recommend black nail-polish with this bag, for an even more dramatic impact!

Then, lastly, my personal favourite: Vivienne Westwood heels. They are beautiful, and come in a range of colours for you to choose from (or get them all! You can never own too many pairs of shoes...). These are the pair on my wish-list:

That's it for now! Thank you for reading.

Please leave me feedback, let me know which heart-shaped goodness you went for!

Love and a 100 Chanel Quilted Chain Bags,

Emma x

ps. My heart shaped necklace from Claire's!

pps. As we have now covered some 60s style, I can safely say (in the words of Yves Saint Laurent): "Fashions fade, style is eternal".

  1. Hello!
I like your blog. Lots of good references. Heart shaped glasses are sweet. I would add more photos and less text. Just saying...http://lara-serbin.blogspot.com/
