Fear Eats the Soul (1974) and the crazy platform shoes!

Dear Followers!

I recently watched a certain German film in class called Fear Eats the Soul (1974), or in German Angst essen Seele auf. It's a terrific film by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, from the New German Cinema era, and as it's from the 70s, the best thing about it (have a guess)... the clothes!

One aspect that stood out the most were the extremely high, bright yellow platform shoes that the heroine Emmi wears pretty much throughout the film. Unfortunately, I was unable to google a proper photo of them, but you can see them quite well in this one:

Emmi is the woman on the far left, and her shoes are g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.
They're typical 70s, and here's a few more extreme examples of the styles that used to be everywhere:

I personally bought a pair of pretty platforms like these last summer from Peacocks. I'm still absolutely in love with them, and can't wait for the weather to get a little warmer so I can wear them again...

It's hard to predict where you could find 70s style platforms on the highstreet, as this is a trend that comes and goes... be on the look out for them, or alternatively have a scour through vintage style stores online to see what you can find! Try charity shops too, as you might bump into shoes actually from the era... now that would be something.

I know they look like they'd be hard to walk in, but they're actually the comfiest heeled shoes I own, so if you like the trend, I say GO FOR IT!

That's it for now, thanks for reading!

Love and piles of Louis Vuitton silk scarves,

Emma xx

ps. A quote from Fear Eats the Soul

Girl in bar: Well... are you coming?
Ali: No.
Girl in bar: And why not?
Ali: Cock broken.
